Dr. Hemant Mahajan is Scientist E in the Maternal and Child Health Nutrition Division at ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad. He is a physician and public health researcher trained in Community Medicine and Epidemiology, with an MBBS, MD and Doctor of Public Health (DrPH). His research spans nutritional epidemiology, cardiovascular and cardiometabolic disease, maternal and child nutrition, anaemia, food fortification, gut microbiome, non- communicable diseases, and implementation and operational research. He leads and collaborates on multiple ICMR/DHR-funded cohort studies, randomized trials, mixed-method studies and risk-prediction projects, including work on CVD risk prediction, MASLD, iron-deficiency anaemia, microbiota-directed complementary foods and fortified rice. His methodological expertise includes regression, survival and longitudinal data analysis, GEE, mixed modelling and disease modelling. He has prior academic and research experience at the University of Pittsburgh, Indian Institute of Public Health Hyderabad, Asian Institute of Public Health University and ICMR-RMRIMS, and is actively involved in research mentoring and scientific review.
